Garbanzos, peas, beans, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and lentils are good sources of folate. Folate is a B-Vitamin that is used by the body to produce blood cells, covert carbohydrates to energy and make DNA and RNA (which carries genetic information at a cellular level) Adequate folate consumption is particularly important before and during pregnancy, in childhood and adolescence. Add more folate to your diet with home grown sprouts!
